I just received this TV yesterday and all I can say so far is WOW!!!!

It is in our bedroom and looks great (picture and aesthetics wise). The iPod dock is also very nice. The sound is excellent for a small (?) TV.

One thing to note. Unless you are a magician, be sure to use long needle nose pliers to get the screws started into the stand/base when attaching it to the TV. Very hard to do with just a screw driver.

My only complaint so far is that the sleeper timer does not have a dedicated button on the remote. You have to go into 2 different menu screens to get to it. My way around that was to set each of the 5 timers the TV has so that each one goes off at 11pm Sunday night through Thursday night. This obviously is not an issue if you are using it somewhere other than a bedroom.

P.S. - Don’t be swayed by the talk about size of your TV and the viewing distance. This 26″ is a perfect size for our bedroom (sits on 5 drawer dresser about 12ft from my pillow). The charts for LCD TVs had me at a 42″ minimum, which is not true IMHO.

I have been an xbox live subscriber for over 5 years now. I never minded the old xbox 1 headset but the plastic had a tendency to break (nothing a little duct tape couldn’t fix). I was surprised when I bought the 360 as I found the new headsets actually went down in quality. They were uncomfortable to wear (reminded me of listening to my old Sony Walkman in the early 90’s). The sound was terrible (full volume was about 75% of the xbox 1 headset’s full volume). And worst of all is that they would continue to BREAK (only this time it was the wires, not the plastic). I actually went through 3… yes ‘THREE’ of the wired headsets before i had enough.

In comes the Microsoft wireless 360 headset. It was more than I wanted to spend but I figured it was cheaper than buying a new wired mic every month. First off, this thing is very comfortable. Anyone who uses blue tooth on their cellphone will feel right at home with this on. Second, the top volume is much louder, making listening much more easier. Also you can tell right away that the audio from the headset is ‘crisper’ and not so distorted, and from talking to others I understand that people will receive you voice as clear as a phone call. The charge will last about 6-8 hours (plenty of time for any gaming marathon) and as long as you remember to plug it in when you are done playing, you should never have a problem with the battery dying. The best part of all is that you will have to really try hard to break this sucker. The durability of this tiny device is impressive.

Now onto the negatives. There isn’t much to say. I suppose for some the volume control and mute being on the unit can be awkward but you get use to it. Also, once in awhile I found that it will randomly disconnect for a moment, though it will immediately reconnect itself. Really the only bad thing to say about this is the obvious… the price. As much as I love this headset and praise it, it did not have to be priced at $45.99. It would have been more sensibly priced at $40 in my opinion.

Overall though, if you have the money and like to chat with friends online I highly recommend this.

-Controls are excellent. Feels like COD4 with a few changes. Any FPS player can pick it up and play very easily. The one vehicle I’ve seen so far controls exactly like a warthog from halo.

-Guns, guns, guns. Only a few hours in and I’ve seen so many kinds of guns I can’t count them. One of the best parts of the game is that you’ll never know what will drop out of the next enemy. Could be that acid rocket shotgun you’ve been waiting for! The pure crazines of the weapons is awesome.

-Story. What story? Your looking for a vault full of alien technology. That’s it so far. If your looking for deep story, this is not the game for you. Try Fallout 3. On that note, this game is nothing like Fallout. Other than the fact that both games are set in a wasteland like place in the future there is no comparison. It’s more like COD4/Halo meets Diablo/Baldurs Gate. -Co-op. Tried the co-op last night and it was the best online experiance I’ve ever had. I sent my friend an invite and he joined my game with his levleed up character. No lobby, no re-loading, he just appeared in my game, we played for a few hours and when he left I was back to single player. All seamless. Amazing. Can’t wait to try it with four players. -In the couple of hours I played it I was glued to the XBOX360. If I didn’t have to work today I would have played all night. Now that’s a sign of a good game. Well spent 60.00. I’m sure I’ll more than get my monies worth on this one for a long time to come. With four characters that you’ll not likely max out on the first play through this game has some legs to stand on. Enjoy.

Borderlands is a perfect hybrid of Halo and Diablo. The shooting feels satisfying, the loot drops are spaced out perfectly, the world is gorgeous, and 4 player co-op works great. It’s the type of game that keeps you saying to yourself “just one more quest” until it’s turned into the wee hours of the morning. Good times!

“UFC Undisputed” is a masterpiece of a video game that does justice to the sport of MMA in ways I didn’t believe to be possible. It captures the intensity, challenge, and science that makes mixed martial arts such a treat for fight fans and brings that experience into your home. Essentially, it does for cage fighting what the (previously) unparalleled Fight Night Round 3 did for boxing and expanded upon it, adding multiple combat styles along with a deep and challenging ground-fighting mechanic to the mix. The result is something that will kick your a$z in every possible sense.

This is the greatest fighting simulator ever made. Just playing it makes me work up a sweat and after my created character’s jab/jab/hook combo knocked The Dean of Mean out I damn near jumped up and ran around the room like Chuck Liddell. You really have to work your skills and strategy to get ahead in this game and doing so is extremely rewarding and give you a sense of elation with every victory. I honestly can’t say any fighting game has ever done that for me. Building up your character’s career from scrub to stud is just a lot of fun. I thought I was hot stuff and built up an impressive record utilizing my muay-thai skills to beat opponents to a pulp while taking them down with judo to wear them out. It worked out well and I felt like a pimp when I broke into the top ten rankings and got to choose to fight The Iceman or Tito Ortiz. Since I like Liddell, I decided I wanted to take on Ortiz. Bad choice. Turns out I didn’t know jack about the ground-fightig mechanics and the fight went shockingly similarly to how a real life fight between me and Ortiz would go. He took me down the first time I threw a strike, climbed on top of me, and pounded on my face until I stopped moving. The end. It was ugly. Very ugly. This is to say that to make it in the big leagues in the virtual UFC you are going to need some serious practice. The ground game is complicated and hard to master, but it can be very rewarding as well. Personally, I’d rather stick to kneeing guys in the head, but that’s me.

There are six combat styles to choose from. Each fighter gets one striking martial-art and one grappling style of their choice. Each style has their own special moves and stat bonuses to bestow. You can gain levels and new techniques by engaging in training camps and completing certain tasks during your sparring sessions there. This can take forever, but it’s worth it once you get access to those headkicks and throws. But I do have to complain that the grappling camps are impossibly frustrating. For example, they’ll ask you to counter-grapple a punch and your opponent will only throw kicks or they’ll take you down and lay on top of you for minutes on end. I thought these people were supposed to be helping you learn. Honestly, that’s the only complaint I can muster at this point. Every other aspect is spot-on as far as I’m concerned. The fact that you have so many ways to train and a limited time to do it and still try to keep you endurance up for each fight adds another layer of depth to the game. The endurance system plays a huge part in the fight itself and it has never been done more realistically. You have one endurance bar which is invisible unless you select otherwise from the options menu. When you attack, the bar diminishes temporarily and the lower it gets, the more susceptible you are to getting knocked out. Taking body shots and other damage diminishes your endurance bar permanently and leaves you with less ammunition to throw down with without opening yourself up to a KO. Managing this requires a lot of strategy and planning because you will be an angry gamer when you spend 2 ½ rounds chasing a guy around the cage throwing everything you have at him only to get KTFO with one punch because you got rope-a-doped while you spent the whole fight tiring yourself out. You gotta think!

The physics in this game are awesome. I actually got an achievement for knocking a mouthpiece 3 meters out of my opponent’s mouth by using his own head as a croquet mallet. I mounted him and my first punch caused his mouthpiece to pop out of his mouth and fall to the side of his head and my second punch snapped his head to the side so hard that is hit the mouthpiece and sent it flying across the cage. That is awesome. No wonky collision detection, no clipping to speak of, the whole think looks like you’re watching an authentic UFC fight. Almost all of your favorites fighters are in the game and they look great. If you want a true-to-life fight simulator, this is it. There is definitely some room for improvement (in training camps and submissions, mostly), but considering this is the first game to really capture the sport of MMA, one could not ask for more.

Phantasy Star Online is out for XBox Live. You can play single player and enjoy the challenges, or go online and play with up to four other players. The plot is pretty simple - refugees from a dying planet head out to join a colony on a distant planet. When they get there, the colony has been wiped out, and you have to figure out why.

To start with, this can be played like a single player RPG. You can choose to be human, newman, or a robot. You can be male or female, and of three classes - the ‘hunter’ swordfighter, the ‘ranger’ distance fighter, or the ‘force’ magic users. You’ve just begun to customize!

You can customize everything from face look, hair style and color, outfit, skin color, and body proportions. You can’t actually choose clothing styles like in many other RPGs - you just change the color and look of it. Still, your character is pretty tweaked to your own style before you enter the world.

The aim in local play is to build up your character. You can play in “Episode 1″ - where you roam the planet looking for clues as to what happened to the original colonists. You can also play “Episode 2″ which is sort of a parallel timeline, where you work for the government and try to contact a hero from the original colony.

Like most RPGs, you build up experience by killing the enemies, and gather money (”meseta”) so you can buy bigger weapons … so you can go kill bigger things. You have a little robotic buddy, “mag”, which also gains experience and power as you go. Once you’ve gotten the hang of things, it’s time to head on line and join up with a party! This is sort of a mini-MMORPG, a training ground for those not quite online yet. You go through the lobbies to find a group of people to play with. You can start a new group or join a group already questing. And then it gets fun! The XBox live microphone makes it easy to coordinate attacks without the clumsy typing-while-fighting system that most MMORPGs require. Simply call out “I’m hurt!” to get healing, and coordinate attacks with ease. Since XBox Live is only for high speed connections, we haven’t run into any lag while playing. Gather up experience, explore new worlds, and make fun friends in the process!

Highly recommended for XBox RPG fans who enjoy console-based RPGs and want to take it to the next level.

There is something special about this game. Not just in the game itself, but in the community you are drawn into when you play online. You meet incredible people with the same intrests as you have.

I’m sure by now you have heard all about the money that will be needed to play, online or off. But if you are like me, you will do anything to play this game again. I dont currently have a highspeed connection to play online, but i am getting one soon. If there is no way you can get a high speed connection to play online, I say pass, because honestly, the game itself is not worth both the combined purchase price of the X-box live starter kit and the game:$… But if you are even considering getting a high-speed connection some time in the near future, pick this one up fast.This is going to be a special online community that will last a very long time to come.

Prince of Persia is set in a land rooted in ancient Persian mythology, with the Prince finding himself caught in an epic battle between the primal forces of light and darkness—the god of Light, Ormazd versus his brother Ahriman, the destructive god of Darkness. This new Prince of Persia doesn’t exactly stick to the basic formula of previous games, but this new format is fresh and fun. The new prince isn’t exactly your classic knight in shining armor, but he’s less annoying then the troubled prince from “sands of time.” The character who shines is Elika- your trusty and very able sidekick. She will be with you through the whole game, which is great, because while the Prince can be a jerk, you can’t help but fall in love with Elika.

The gameplay is based around the platforming you would expect from a PoP game- running on walls, jumping from platform to platform, and even crawling across ceilings. The combat system is fairly simple, and centers around combos using your trusty sidekick (many of which look spectacular). Whenever you are fighting someone it will just be you and Elika vs. that one person- not the larger battles of past PoP games.

Overall, the game makes innovative leaps to reduce the frustration associated with platforming games. If you’re a casual gamer with a romantic heart and you want a fairytale adventure, this game was made for you!

If you want the combat from the previous games or environmental challenges, you may want to skip this game… or at least rent it.

If you’ve ever wanted a magical acrobatic intelligent witty attractive graceful romantic princess of a girlfriend, buy this game and you’ll live happily ever after.

The opening level places you in command of Darth Vader, giving you a preview of the absolute power of the force… that you realize you can’t match at first with the apprentice. As the developers have stated, this is to give you a chance to realize what you can become. The absolute awesomeness of this level really sets the tone for the game. Marching down and eliminating Wookies while ATAT’s walk down below from the cliff and Star Destroyers, troop transports, and TIE Fighters fly all around left me feeling like this was really Star Wars.

The leveling in the game gives you a chance for character customization once you take control of the apprentice. Want your force-grip to be able to grab two enemies instead of one? Spend your force points in upgrading force-grip. Also - you can wear various costumes, make your lightsaber one of nearly 20 colors with various special effects, and really make your character your own. And then there’s are the visuals. They are amazing. The character designs, the lighting, the action; they are all flawless. The backround settings and environments are also gorgeious and have an almost painted look, like a mural. This might sound out of place but it actually looks really amazing.

You might see what I mean when you first arrive on the junk planet. My only complaint here is that some of the close up textures look a little bland, mostly on the fungal world that I’ve noticed. Audio is great too. Much of the score is old John William’s classic, so there’s no complaint there.

A lot of the affects seem to be taken right from the movies, which is also fine. Sound affects for explosions and force sounds seem about as good as I could expect. And I especially like how the troopers plead for their lives as you pick them up with the force and wave them around. The Star Wars saga will continue in Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, a videogame developed by LucasArts, which casts players as Darth Vader’s “Secret Apprentice” and promises to unveil new revelations about the Star Wars galaxy.

The expansive story, created under direction from George Lucas, is set during the largely unexplored era between Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. In it, players will assist the iconic villain in his quest to rid the universe of Jedi - and face decisions that could change the course of their destiny. As its name implies, The Force Unleashed completely re-imagines the scope and scale of the Force by taking full advantage of newly developed technologies that will be seen and experienced for the first time: Digital Molecular Matter (DMM), by Pixelux Entertainment, and euphoria by NaturalMotion Ltd.

So I enjoy this game a lot. One complaint I’ve read in reviews that I only partially agree with is slightly clumsy controls. There is some room for improvement there (when using force grip, throwing an object and getting it where you want it to go can be difficult.) But every game for me has something about the controls or gameplay that I don’t like, and I usually look past it. Another complaint of mine is lack of multiplayer. This could be an awesome game multiplayer.

Set in a modern day survival-horror universe, the co-operative gameplay of Left 4 Dead (L4D) casts four “Survivors” in an epic struggle against hordes of swarming zombies and terrifying “Boss Infected” mutants. Developed by Turtle Rock Studios and Valve, creators of the Counter-Strike and Half-Life games, the latest AI technology allows for multiplayer games of one to eight players.

A new and highly virulent strain of the rabies virus emerges and spreads through the human population with frightening speed. The pandemic’s victims become grotesquely disfigured widely violent psychopaths, attacking the uninfected on sight. As one of the “lucky” few apparently immune to the sickness, you, unfortunately, are also trapped in a city crawling with thousands of the bloodthirsty Infected. Alone, you’re dead. But together with a handful of fellow survivors, you might just fight your way to safety.

Players can play as a Survivor or as one of four types of Boss Infected, each of whom possess a unique mutant ability, such as a 50-foot tongue lasso or a giant belly full of explosive methane gas. The gameplay of L4D is set across four massive campaigns. The zombie population of each mission is choreographed by an AI Director that monitors the human players’ actions and creates a unique and dramatic experience for them on the fly.

Now one of the main reasons you should buy the game, the split screen and system link play. You can play split screen with a friend, then hookup online with another friend. Then to take it to a whole-nother-level, 8 player versus mode. Up to four players take control of the Survivors and up to four players take control of the unique zombies (such as Tanks and Smokers) along side of the AI controlled zombies.

The other unique feature the game has are voice commands between the survivors, some are even automatic like when you are reloading, so that the other survivors don’t reload at the same time just in case zombies start coming at you. A nice feature that really prevents everyone from reloading at once and getting swarmed.

“LFD” was primarily advertised, and hyped at the latest E3 summit, as the great zombie co-op game not just online but offline as well. Based almost primarily on this (that and I love playing as Vietnam veterans), my little brother and I saved up for this one so we could finally kill mass hordes together rather than one at a time while the other sits there patiently twiddling his thumbs. We brought it to our home, put it in and were immediately taken in by the mass sound interacting with our Yamaha home theater. It was, for a lack of a better term, really loud.

We loved the introduction screen, which pretty much summed up the entire game: run, shoot a lot, help others, heal, run some more, shoot a lot more some at special bad guys, revive fallen team member, heal, run a short distance and get to “safe” point and prepare for round 2-4. Simplistic, yet incredibly entertaining. The levels are equally simplistic as the linear environments make the path to follow as easy as the aiming system, which is dead-on accurate. There were many times when zombies would spill through a doorway and were quickly stopped because I took the Microsoft approach of “point, click, and hold” and their advance halted as quickly as it started.

The gratuitous level of violence, which would make Terrintino retire since he cannot possibly achieve that level of awesomeness, was entertaining. It was also great to see who got the most head-shots and did the most damage to the special villains. The sounds and asthetics also stayed true to survival horror as you could hear the groaning of nearby zombies and the crying of special villains known as witches. Be weary of them as they are NASTY.

If you don’t have Xbox Live, this game won’t be much fun because its not a traditional game. It’s 4 completely separate sections, and you have 3 others with you and if you are stuck playing with the computer as 2 or 3 teammates, it will get dull-boring-old. With that said, online it’s incredibly fun, rich, and an individual from my game play experience, in that if you don’t play as a team, you will lose and lose fast.
